Cómo ser sabio
One fine day, our little Cultivated owl was walking through an enormous library, when he felt a sudden urge to open the dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy. As luck would have it, the page fell open at the word wisdom, and its definition thus: 1. The highest level of knowledge. 2. Prudent conduct in life or in business. 3. Profound knowledge of science, literature or the arts.
Our little bird was left somewhat bewildered by the enourmity of the matter, and immediately thought of his friend Aceituno (Mr. Olive), whose stories were always food for thought, and hence without further ado, he set off for the olive groves at Molino de Santa Ana, in search of both Aceituno and an answer to guide him in this matter.
“Aceituno, how can we achieve wisdom?” asked the bird, gazing at one of Aceituno’s branches.
“It’svery simple, my friend,” said Aceituno, “if a wise man speaks, listen to him; and if you speak, listen to yourself.”
