The Mediterranean Diet for our times
The traditional Mediterranean Diet Pyramid was recently updated by the Mediterranean Diet Foundation, in collaboration with other international health and nutrition organisations, in order to reflect and fit in with our modern day lifestyle.
It offers as before guidance on which foods to eat every week and how often, but now also recommends how many servings.
Perhaps most interesting of all, it points to lifestyle activities such as cooking, the use of seasonal and local foods, socialising and physical activity and adequate rest that we would do well to include on a regular basis.
